Commended to the Word: Equipping leaders for ministry impact … around the world

Final Frames, Part 2: Going Back to Fishing

This teaching is part of the “Final Frames” series, a compilation of Bible studies Daniel taught in his final weeks as the Coastlands’ Senior Pastor in late-2006. The Scriptures shared in this series were pivotal in Daniel’s life and helped form his ministry.

At the empty tomb, Mary could not recognize Jesus. His own disciples had trouble coming back to the risen Lord. In this continuation of his teaching on Scriptures that have defined his own walk with the Lord, Daniel asks why is it that we return to our old lives when we cannot recognize Jesus? Instead of clinging to the Jesus we thought we knew, or retreating into isolation, He asks us to follow Him places we probably don’t want to go, to do what we often don’t want to do and to serve other people. “Do you love me?,” the Lord asked Peter in John 21:15-19. When Peter says he does, Jesus then tells him, “Feed my sheep.”
