KWAM, which stands for “Kingdom Ways and Means,” is a radical training venue for young adults who have already decided to pursue the Lord with all their heart, and who are deeply longing for rapid acceleration in their ministry preparation. Much of what happens during this training will be surprising and unanticipated; choice one-on-one moments; subtle shifts in the spiritual atmosphere that alert us to the Spirit’s touch; dynamic interaction among the delegates. Such things cannot be planned, but they can be anticipated!
KWAM is a totally new concept for purposefully engaging this generation’s leaders in meaningful, denomination-wide ministry. My hope in this is to lead these young, future leaders in concert with one another, moving sanely and sensibly, yet resolutely in leadership, spiritual-gift ministry, study, prayer and discipleship—offering to them what most of us “older ones” wished to have had when we were their age.
This experience is not a substitute for what the young people are getting in their local churches; nor is it meant to replace any formal ministry training. But it is unique in the synergy and symbiosis created by having such bright, like-hearted, passionate, Foursquare young adults together for a brief, intensely focused time.
“Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe. Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching. Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery. Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all. Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.” 1 Timothy 4:12-16
“Make me know Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:4-5
